Broomfield Victorious over Ralston Valley
Broomfield Varsity Eagles outlasted the Ralston Valley Mustangs 5-2 on Saturday. Broomfield got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Kiley Wheaton doubled, and Ireland Heer singled, each scoring one run. Ava Bachman doubled, which helped Ralston Valley tie the game at two in the top of the fourth. A home run to center field by Wheaton gave Broomfield Varsity Eagles the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the fifth. Heer earned the win for the Eagles. The righty gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Myah Becker took the loss for the Mustangs. The Eagles piled up 10 hits in the game. Jenna Kapelke, Wheaton, and Lauren Hernandez each collected two hits for Broomfield Varsity Eagles. Wheaton drove the middle of the lineup, leading them with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-4 on the day. Hernandez stole two bases.
